DTF Transfers for Your Own Heat Press Production
DTF transfers by meter are designed for print shops, clothing brands, agencies, online stores and manufacturers with their own heat press. We print your artwork on film; you apply the transfers to garments when and where you need them.
The technology is suitable for detailed full-colour artwork, photographs, gradients, small lettering and complex graphics. DTF transfers can be applied to cotton, polyester and many blended materials, including dark garments thanks to the white base layer.

Preparing Artwork for DTF Meter Printing
Arrange your artwork in the 57 × 100 cm format and use the available area as efficiently as possible. Keep individual designs separated so that you can cut and apply them comfortably after delivery.
- Preferred formats are PDF, AI, EPS or CDR with text converted to outlines.
- For raster artwork, use PNG or TIFF at least 300 DPI at final print size.
- Send artwork in its normal orientation; do not mirror the design.
- Very fine lines, small text and tiny details should be checked before production.
- If your data are not ready for print, send us what you have and we will advise what needs to be adjusted.
How to Apply DTF Transfers
Apply DTF transfers with a heat press. The ideal settings vary slightly depending on the garment, heat press and transfer type, so we recommend a short test application before a larger production run.
- Pre-press the garment to remove moisture and create a smooth application surface.
- Apply the transfer at approximately 135–160 °C for 7–15 seconds using medium to high pressure.
- Peel the carrier film shortly after opening the heat press, according to the transfer instructions.
- After peeling, re-press the motif for approximately 5 seconds through parchment paper or a protective sheet.
- A correctly applied transfer should be firmly bonded to the fabric, with no lifting edges and a visible textile structure.
Store unused transfers flat, dry and away from direct sunlight.
When DTF Transfers Are the Right Choice
Choose DTF transfers when
- Your artwork contains photographs, gradients or many colours.
- You want to produce smaller or changing quantities.
- You need transfers for several types of garments.
- You want to apply prints yourself with your own heat press.
Consider another technology when
- You have a very large run with the same simple design.
- You need metallic, neon or reflective effects.
- You require a specific special ink or finish.
- You need help selecting the most suitable print method.
What DTF Cannot Do – and the Right Alternative
DTF is excellent for full-colour artwork, photographs, gradients and small to medium production runs. It does not create metallic, neon or reflective effects. For those applications, we offer specialised screen printing transfers.
Metallic effect
For gold, silver, bronze and other glossy designs, choose a metallic transfer.
Neon colours
For bold fluorescent colours on sportswear, events or promotional clothing, choose a neon transfer.
